Flee the Fuzzies Game, 1o.27.2023
Challenge: The objective of this project was to design a new board game based on the fundamental mechanics of Mouse Trap and inspired by life at Ringling College.
Description: Our team created a game called "Flee the Fuzzies," inspired by the Tussock caterpillars that appear on campus in the springtime. These caterpillars are known for falling from trees. The goal of the game is for players to navigate to the center of campus while avoiding trees with falling caterpillars.
As players move across the board, they can stack tree components. Once a tree is completed, a trapdoor can be activated, releasing its contents, which were shuffled at the beginning of the game. The contents can either be an orange or a caterpillar. If a caterpillar is released, the player is sent back to the start. The first player to reach the center of campus wins.
Goal: My primary responsibility was the design and creation of the tree game peices and game board. I faced the challenge of designing a tree that could be constructed from three components and incorporate a mechanism to release caterpillars from a trapdoor. Additionally, I designed the game board to be split into four pieces, ensuring it fits snugly into the box.

Process: The pieces were designed using Adobe illustrator and cut on a laser cutter. The pieces were then glue together and painted by hand.
